I was born and raised in Cecil Township. My husband Robert ("Bob") and I reside on our farm on Ciaffoni Road where, for more than twenty years, we raised, bred and exhibited registered Belgian draft horses, and showed them at state, national and international shows. Currently, we raise cattle and grow associated crops.
As I observe the convergence of Cecil Township's farming, coal mining and oil drilling past with today's residential, commercial and industrial growth, I believe we can glean much from long-time residents (whose vision shaped the community we enjoy today) while welcoming newcomers (who have wisely chosen our township over other municipalities). Drawing from our past and embracing the future need not be a contradiction. I have long believed that our municipality can and should blend the old with the new in the twenty-first century with a local government that understands the needs and concerns of its constituency and responds accordingly.
My record reflects my dedication to our community. I served on the Cecil Township Advisory Planning Council for the Comprehensive Plan in 1994-96 and again in 2006-08, and during those periods I attended every seminar available on planning and zoning. I also was a member of the Agricultural Security Board for a number of years. In addition, my greatest service was as a spokesperson for you, the taxpayer, on many issues.
In November 2011, I was elected to the Board of Supervisors and took office in January 2012, serving a six-year term. It was a tremendous honor to represent the municipality, and I remain humbled by the trust placed in me by the voters of Cecil Township. I am proud of the numerous strides made for our community's hard-working residents, and I am optimistic about our Township's future.
